DESCRIPTION: a compact form of this classic Australian native.
FEATURES: Banksia ericifolia was one of the first plants to be domesticated and has been grown in the UK since the late eighteenth century. This compact form has masses of cylindrical red/orange flowers that are popular with native birds.
FLOWERS: orange/red flowers from autumn until spring.
Plant with summer flowering shrubs like Cistus, large salvia and Abutilon.
CULTIVATION: grow in sunny position with well-drained low phosphorus soil. Prune annually after flowering. Can be used as a small hedge, specimen plant or in large tubs.
FERTILISING: regular applications of Seasol and Powerfeed from mid spring to late autumn will keep the plants looking good and growing well.
