Banksia oblongifolia "Bryon Gem" is a selection of the popular Banksia oblongifolia and was found in the Byron Bay area, hence the name.

It will grow 1 m to 1.5 m.

A fast grower with flowering occuring while quite young.

Masses of yellow banksia flower all over the plant.

Flushes of bronze velvet-like new foliage adds to the beauty of this plant.  

Flowers are full of nectar and are highly attractive to birds and bees.

Hardy and long lived, "Byron Gem" grows quickly with flower spikes forming all along the branches.  The buds are also very striking.  Frost and drought resistant once established.

Plant in average to moist position with good drainage, prune to size and shape after flowering and only use low phosphorous (native) fertiliser.
