A soft stemmed perennial with glossy green leaves spirally arranged on ginger-like stems. Spikes of deep purple , cup shaped flowers ae produced in autumn.

A highly decorative perennial for warm climate gardens where it can be planted in shady rockeries and borders. A beautiful container plant for patios and verandahs.

Grows best in sheltered spot protected from direct sun and frost. Thrives in a shady to partly shaded position in moist humus enriched soil.
