Description:

  • Callistemon 'Baby Glow' is a beautiful bottlebrush that features almost iridescent bright pink to orange new foliage growth through the warmer months of the year.

  • It is a naturally compact and free branching shrub that is a perfect size for smaller gardens.

  • It makes an excellent hedge and topiary plant as it is very amenable to shaping.

  • 'Baby Glow' is primarily grown for the brightly coloured foliage and compact habit, as it rarely or never flowers.

 

Position:

  • 'Baby Glow' adapts well to almost all soil types from clay to sand and tolerates less than perfect drainage.

  • It will grow well in part shade to full sun.

 

Care:

  • Extra moisture will improve new foliage growth in dry conditions.

  • Liquid feeding through the warmer months can be used to encourage a burst of colourful new growth, particularly if 'Baby Glow' is planted as a hedge or topiary.

  • Whilst it is a water-wise, low-maintenance plant, growth will be enhanced with extra water and general purpose fertiliser if these are naturally in short supply.

 

Pruning:

  • Best time for pruning is when new growth is about to start. This is usually late winter to early spring.

  • Callistemon will respond to regular tip pruning. If more extensive shaping is required, plants respond well as long as they are healthy.
