Sasanqua Camellia (will take sun)

 

Height: to 3 m

 

Flowers in autumn/early winter

 

Evergreen. Suitable for hedging. Great as a background tree when not flowering.

 

Suitable for pots. 

 

Princess Fancy-Plants:

 

"Camellias need good drainage, so it's not advisable to plant them in clay soils. While sasanquas are listed as suitable for sun, I've found they don't tend to enjoy hot summer sun from the southwest and sometimes struggle in that position.

 

Camellias also hate wind (which tends to come from the west in winter) so that's another reason to avoid a western position when planting.
