An evergreen medium shrub or small, bushy tree with dark green, strongly lemon-scented leaves. New growth is often red. Profuse clusters of small creamy white flowers are produced at the end of the branches in summer.
Very attractive specimen tree or shrub that provides good shade. Can be clipped to form a neat hedge. Flowers attract butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Grown in a sunny to partly shaded position in rich, moist, well drained soil. Prefers semi-shade in hot climates. Provide protection from frost and hot sun when young. Keep well watered, especially during dry conditions. Prune to help maintain a compact habit.
