Notes from the plant tag:
Burgundy is a new Mandevilla bred for Australian conditions. This variety is prolific flowering with burgundy trumpet shaped flowers on compact, well branched, green foliage. Aloha Burgundy has an upright habit and will climb or cascade if given the chance, but otherwise will retain a neat, compact, shrub-like habit.
FLOWERING: Late winter through to autumn.
POSITION: Aloha Mandevillas enjoy full sun positions with free draining soils. They will withstand high heat and will benefit from organically enriched soils.
HABIT: Unlike the vigorous climbing habit of the traditional varieties from the Aloha series, Burgundy will retain a neat, compact, shrub-like habit. Given the chance it will also climb beautifully up a lattice or wall, producing an abundance of big burgundy trumpet flowers.
USE: Perfect for climbing up lattice or walls, trailing in the garden or cascading from baskets.
CARE: Water in well when first planted and for the first 3 weeks. Aloha Mandevillas will tolerate short periods of dry soils, but it's best to keep the water up during summer. A light trim after flowering will promote new growth and enhance flowering performance.
