Notes from the plant tag:

An attractive perennial shrub that grows up to a maximum height of 2 m high and 2 m wide, but can be cut back after flowering to desired height.

Best in semi-shade.  It will grow in full sun but on a hot sunny day will look wilted, though will pick up as soon as the sun goes down.

It bears beautiful big purple flowers in early spring offset by the big dark leaves.  

Withstands light frost.

Great addition for a tropical or cottage garden.
