This form of the port wine magnolia has larger flowers and leaves in the species.  It forms a hardy, evergreen shrub which produces highly scented magenta tinged, cream flowers which are produced during spring, summer and autumn.

The rich fragrance of the flowers makes the shrub a useful addition to any shrubbery. Site plants where the perfume can be enjoyed.

Thrives in a sunny to partly shaded position in moist, humus rich, well-drained soil. Protect from frost. Pruning will produce new flowering growth. Water well in summer.
