Notes from the plant tag:

This highly desirable small tree was bred in New Zealand by Plantsman Os Blumhardt, it is evergreen with glossy green leaves.

Soft brown velvet buds are produced in late winter followed by fragrant white flowers blushed with pink in spring.  A bonus intermittent flowering during summer may occur after rain.

Quite a hardy tree with no apparent growing issues in Australia after being introduced in the mid 1990's.

Plant in full sun or with light afternoon shade; protect from harsh frost when young after that it has proven to be frost tolerant.

Michelia are reasonably easy care small trees and will benefit from a regular feeding of a well balanced fertiliser.

Growth habit is normally as a multi-branched, vase-shaped tree to 4-5 m high x 4 m wide canopy, however can be trained to a single trunk when young.

Suggestion:  trim off lower branches and under plant with shade loving perennials.
