A vigorous evergreen climber for moist well drained soil and sunny or part shaded situation.  Large clusters of purple pea flowers in profusion in spring followed by long velvety seed pods containing large brown seed.

It is a stunning site if kept within view on a low fence which it will cover well.

A rival to the exotic deciduous Wisteria.
