Spathiphyllum is commonly known as the Peace Lily and is used as a house plant in lots of different situations. Of all the Spathiphyllum varieties, Sensation is acknowledged as the world’s best. It features large, dark green ribbed leaves and produces large white flowers with a yellow spadix. Sensation will enjoy warm conditions and ‘bright shade’ meaning bright conditions without direct sunlight.
Habit: Has a strong, upright habit to one metre.
Height: Stems spread to a similar width.
Nutrition: Use a general purpose, controlled release fertiliser in spring and again in summer which can be supplemented by an occasional liquid feed. Avoid the temptation to over-feed the plant as this can burn the foliage.
Use: The perfect indoor plant that beautifies its surroundings whilst clearing the air of harmful toxins.
Care: Water in well when first planted. The soil must be kept moist, especially in summer. Do not water when plant is dormant. Remove spent flowers by cutting stem at base. Re-pot every 2-3 years. Use a damp cloth to clean foliage.
