From the plant tag:  an ornamental, medium-sized tree with large leathery leaves.  Highly prized for its spectacular clusters of large, deep red flowers, which are produced in summer and autumn.

Grow for its showy flowers and fruit.  Ideal for large gardens and parks.  Attracts nectar feeding birds.  Decorative, woody seed capsules follow the flowers.

Tolerates a wide variety of soils, including sands, clays and loams, but best grown in damp soils.  Withstands light frosts.  Responds well to slow-release native fertilisers.  Benefits from watering in dry periods.
