Upright, evergreen shrub with coppery-purple, leathery leaves and clusters of red, winged seeds that appear in summer.

Excellent for foliage contrast, as a background shrub, hedge, windbreak or screen.

Grow in a sunny position in moist, well-drained soil.  Tolerant of some shade, drought, light frost, pollution and salt-laden coastal winds.  Trim lightly and regularly if shaping is required.
