Acmena "Purple Rain" is a dense, upright, bushy shrub.
Masses of deep purple new growth changing through to magenta to green "shower" the plant on and off all year long.
Small white fluffy flowers during summer are followed by purple edible fruit.
A selection of the Acmena smithii known for its psyllid resistance, it is fast growing and extremely hardy.
"Purple Rain" is a fabulous addition to your garden, best suited to a full sun to lightly shaded position. Regular water until established is best, drought and frost resistant once established.
Pruning to size and shape and regular fertilising with a native, slow-release fertiliser will encourage the flushes of brilliant new growth and result in a bushier plant ideally suited for screening and hedges.
