A rare and beautiful Australian native evergreen tree originating from the ancient rainforests of Far North Queensland. Daintree Pine is prized for its naturally symmetrical, conical growth habit and soft, fine-textured green foliage, which gives it the elegant appearance of a traditional Christmas tree.
Its graceful, slender branches form a dense, attractive canopy that requires very little pruning to maintain its shape. An outstanding choice for feature planting, formal gardens, avenue planting, screening, windbreaks and large decorative containers. Its naturally conical shape also makes it a wonderful Australian native alternative to a traditional Christmas tree.
Although commonly called Daintree Pine, this fascinating species is actually a member of the she-oak family rather than a true pine. It is an unusual and highly ornamental tree that adds year-round structure and interest to the garden.
Thrives in Brisbane's subtropical climate, preferring full sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soil. Benefits from regular watering during establishment and protection from strong, drying winds. Once established, it tolerates coastal conditions and occasional periods of wet soil. Generally slow to moderately growing, it requires minimal maintenance and naturally retains its attractive, upright shape.
